Tolerance refers to the body's adaptation to the effects of alcohol over time, which often leads to an individual needing to consume larger quantities of alcohol to achieve the same effects. Despite this increased consumption, tolerance does not actually affect the measurement of blood alcohol concentration (BAC). BAC is a quantifiable measure of the amount of alcohol in an individual's bloodstream, expressed as a percentage.

So, even if a tolerant individual feels less intoxicated after consuming a certain amount of alcohol, their BAC is still a direct reflection of the actual alcohol present in their blood, not their subjective experience or tolerance level. Therefore, the presence of tolerance means that while a person may not feel as impaired, their BAC remains unaffected in terms of measurement.
